From January 2010 Wessex Karate Academy became an official Dokokai of Ryukyu Kobudo Hozon Shinko

Kobudo Hozon Shinko Kai,  is a traditional form of Okinawan Weapons training.

 

The Syllabus has 8 weapons to learn and in order of which you learn them they are:

 

Tekko: Knuckledusters based on horse stirrups (pair)

 

Bo Staff: Tapered 6ft Staff

 

Nunchuka: Flails. (Wood only, no metal ball bearing types)

 

Sai: Three pronged metal truncheons (pair)

 

Tonfa: A wooden weapon based on mill handles. Similar to the American night stick (pair)

 

Kama: Hand held sickles (pair)

 

Ronin and Timbe: Shield and short hunting spear

 

Ekkyu: Oar or paddle

 

 

 

 

Sensei Pete will take a monthly class every third Saturday morning at South Hill Community Center, Weymouth with a weekly invite only class for the more advanced students held on a Friday night in Dorchester.

The classes are open to all Wessex students from 3rd Kyu + and all other martial arts students ranked 1st Dan or higher.
