Gradings
The next grading times have been set as follows:
Monday 3rd July 2023 – Weymouth Dojo:
5.00 – 6.30pm Weymouth Juniors 10th – 8th Kyu
6.45 – 9.00pm Adult Kyu grades
Tuesday 4th July 2023 – Dorchester Dojo:
4.45 – 6.15pm Dorchester Juniors 10th – 8th Kyu
6.30 – 8.00pm Advanced Juniors 6th Kyu 3 mon – 3rd Kyu
Friday 7th July 2023 – Weymouth Dojo:
5.00 – 6.30pm Intermediate Juniors 8th Kyu – 6th Kyu 2 mon
There will be no normal classes on the above days, only Thursday Milborne class and the Friday morning Weymouth class are still on.
All students are expected to attend their grading group whether they are grading or not. Please remember to bring mouth guards and hand mitts.
The grading fees are: Adult £20.00 Junior £15.00
Please ensure licenses are up to date.
AGM
Wessex Karate Academy is run by a committee which is elected at the Annual General Meeting. This year’s AGM is to be held via Zoom on Wednesday 5th July 2023 at 9.00pm.
A Zoom link will be available on the club’s Facebook page prior to the meeting.
Please speak to Sensei’s Peter Thompson or Paul Foot if you are interested in being involved. But please feel free to attend if you are just interested to see how the club is running.
Competition
16 students from Wessex Karate Academy attended this year’s National children’s competition in Woodley, Berkshire. The students gained 13 golds, 10 silver and 3 bronze medals plus the tournament trophy.
There will be a Wessex Inter Club competition in October 2023.
Safeguarding Update
Wessex Karate Academy is highly vigilant in protecting children and vulnerable adults. The organisation believes about the importance of making children and vulnerable adults safe and protecting individuals from abuse. In 2020 the club attained the Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts “mark”.
