Our club has attained the Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts “mark” and all instructors are fully qualified and DBS checked.

Goju-Ryu Karate
We practice traditional Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate and are affiliated with Goju Ryu Karate International (GKI)
Goju Ryu is one of the main traditional styles of Okinawan Karate, combining powerful striking techniques with close-range grappling and throwing. It is suitable for all ages and levels of fitness.
We train children and adults of any ability from age 6 and up, including private lessons on request.
Ryukyu Kobudo Training
Kobudo is the weapons system of traditional Okinawan martial arts.
At Wessex we teach a wide range of traditional weapons, including the bo (wooden staff), sai (short-handled trident), tonfa (handled club), kama (sickle), nunchaku (two rope-connected sticks), the tekko (knuckledusters), tinbe-rochin (shield and spear), and eku (boat oar).
Kobudo lessons are available to students aged 14 and over, at our Weymouth dojo and online via Zoom.
